Dixie Carter was best known for her role as Julia Sugarbaker in the sitcom “Designing Women”. Today, the famous actress passed away in Houston from complications of endometrial cancer. She was 70 years old.
The said actress had been fighting the cancer for some time. Reportedly, Carter had to drop out an upcoming revival of George Bernard Shaw’s Mrs. Warren’s Profession because she was recovering from surgery. In a press statement, Hal Holbrook said that Dixie Carter’s death was a “terrible blow” to their family and that they would appreciate everyone understanding that her death is a private family tragedy.
Dixie Carter appeared on many shows and was nominated for an Emmy in 2007 for her seven-episode guest stint on the ABC hit “Desperate Housewives.”
