The double car-bombing happened on a Monday, in a restaurant that was popular with Shia pilgrims making their way to the burial place of the Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. The motives for the recent attacks still remain unknown as of this time, but the bombing sure did a lot of damage to the place and to its people.
